In the modern world, almost every person owns a smartphone. And since these smartphones are useless without compelling apps, every day thousands of new apps are launched for smartphones. Snapchat is one such popular photo-sharing app for smartphones. This app is very addictive as it allows you to capture photos and record videos. Also, you can share those photos or videos with selected people. It is easily available on Android as well as iOS devices. However, not many people know that Snapchat can be accessed on their PC itself. There are two different methods which will allow you to accomplish this task. Here, we are going to discuss both the methods. So let’s understand both these methods in detail.
Note: I took the idea of this post from a post about the shareit app. I read how one can easily download shareit for pc windows 10 using bluestacks android emulator (Check shareit official website). I just wanted to mention them at the beginning of this post. Now keep reading 🙂
Method 1- Run Snapchat in Chrome browser using ARC Welder.
ARC Welder is basically a Google Chrome extension which is designed to run smartphone apps in Google Chrome browser on any operating system. In this extension, you can use only one app at a time. Before you launch another app, you need to terminate the first app. If you don’t do it, ARC Welder will do it for you. Let’s take a look at the prerequisites and steps required to set up Snapchat on the ARC Welder extension in your Chrome browser.
1. From the Google Web Store, download and install ARC Welder extension in your Chrome browser.
2. Download and store the APK file of Snapchat either from its official website or Google Play Store on your PC.
Steps You Need to Follow
Step 1- Launch the Chrome browser on your PC and open a new tab. In the address bar of the tab, type ‘chrome://apps/’ and hit Enter.
Step 2- You will now be redirected to a page where you will see the icons of all the apps which are available to you. Here, spot the icon of ARC Welder and click on it to launch this app.
Step 3- A new window will then pop-up with a ‘Choose’ option at the bottom. Click on that ‘Choose’ option. You can then select the directory where ARC Welder can write files.
Step 4- Now, an option which says ‘Add your APK’ will appear on your screen. When you click on this option, a new window will appear where you can navigate to the location where you had stored the APK file of Snapchat. Open the APK file by clicking on the ‘Open’ option which you will find at the bottom of the window.
Step 5- Then, a new window will open where you can configure your display settings such as the orientation, form factor, etc.
Step 6- Once you are done with the configuration of the display settings, click on the ‘Launch App’ option which is again located at the bottom of the same window.
Once you launch the app, it will start working as it used to work on your smartphone. However, you won’t be able to click any photo or record any video if you don’t have a webcam. But if you have a webcam or if you are using a laptop which has an inbuilt webcam, you can even use this feature on your PC/laptop.
Method 2- Using an Android emulator (Here Bluestacks.)
An Android emulator allows its users to use Android apps on a PC/laptop. Bluestacks is the most popular Android emulator, and hence we are going to explain this method using it. Before you start with this method, you must have Bluestacks Android emulator installed on your PC.
Step 1- Launch Bluestacks on your PC and open ‘Google Play Store’ in it.
Step 2- Type ‘Snapchat’ in the search box and hit Enter.
Step 3- Select the most relevant result and click on the ‘Install’ option.
Step 4- Once it is successfully installed, you will find it in the app drawer.
Step 5- To launch this app, go to app drawer and click on the icon of Snapchat.
You can now log in to your existing Snapchat account or create a new account immediately. Even here, you can only capture photos and record videos if your PC is equipped with a webcam.
Either of the methods mentioned above will allow you to access Snapchat on your PC easily. If you get stuck at any of the steps or if you have a better method, then please let us know in the comments section below.
